Scope of Work:
The Scrum Master will support the Information Technology department by guiding Agile teams in delivering customer-focused technology solutions. This role is responsible for facilitating Agile ceremonies, promoting SAFe practices, and ensuring teams stay aligned, productive, and continuously improving.
The Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, team members, and other Scrum Masters to maintain healthy backlogs, remove impediments, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality work. This role also contributes to broader Agile community activities and helps champion Agile principles across the organization.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Scrum Master Certification
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Scrum Master using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe
- Demonstrated experience identifying impediments and advocating for their resolution or mitigation
- At least one (1) year of experience serving as a Scrum Master for Agile teams, including facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and quarterly PI planning
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working with Atlassian Jira and Align work-management tools
- Ability to create and manage Agile team backlogs, sprint plans, roadmaps, and productivity reporting within work-management tools
- Experience coordinating and linking test cases and test results with user story and task development
- Ability to promote and support Agile principles and practices across the organization
- Ability to remove impediments and shield teams from external distractions
- Experience collaborating with Product Owners to manage backlogs and assist with user story refinement
- Experience tracking and communicating team progress, metrics, and performance to stakeholders
- Experience facilitating continuous improvement efforts and supporting team development and coaching
- Experience coordinating with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to foster organizational Agile maturit
- Ability to assist in risk identification and mitigation throughout the project lifecycle
Desirable Qualifications:
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability
- Experience working in a utility (electric, water, or gas) environment is preferred
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean methodologies
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution capabilities
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master in Agile software development environments
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority
- Experience in utility or public-sector environments (preferred)
- Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
Assumptions
- Contractors must have reliable internet and work exclusively within the United States
- Contractors must be available for meetings generally scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Time
- The role is 100% remote
- The assigned resource must have strong communication, written, and collaboration skills
