Job Purpose
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders on complex retirement plan matters, including technical plan design and compliance. Deliver and promote consulting services. Stay attuned to client needs and expectations by offering strategic insights, aligning appropriate resources, and contributing to the development of new consulting capabilities as needed.
Essential Functions

Serve as a subject matter expert and reviewer on ESOP and employer securities topics for both private and public companies. | 25% |
Lead or contribute to projects involving fiduciary concerns, compliance matters, plan design, and regulatory correction procedures (e.g., EPCRS, audits, regulatory filings), with a focus on ERISA and IRS requirements. | 25% |
Provide technical expertise on employer securities issues, including administration and impacts of corporate transactions (e.g., mergers, spinoffs, dividends) and stock trading within retirement plans. | 10% |
Collaborate with various internal departments across operations, legal, compliance, marketing, IT, and distribution teams to support client and organizational initiatives. | 10% |
Support product and solution development for employer securities plans, including cash management and participant-directed options, and assist with implementation processes. | 10% |
Train and mentor consulting staff, as well as internal business units and external partner networks. May involve supervisory responsibilities. | 5% |
Monitor industry developments and share insights on legislative, regulatory, and legal trends affecting ESOPs and employer securities. | 5% |
Represent the organization in industry groups through speaking engagements, committee involvement, and networking with professionals and plan sponsors. | 5% |
Provide feedback on regulatory or legislative matters and contribute to internal teams developing responses to new laws and guidance (e.g., fiduciary regulations, diversification rules). | Included above |
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in retirement, ERISA, or employee benefits
- FINRA registration may be required
- Experience in banking, law, accounting, or consulting is a plus
- Proven ability to deliver value-added consulting solutions and apply deep industry knowledge
- Industry certifications/designations preferred
- Strong consulting, negotiation, communication (oral/written), and problem-solving skills required
- Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and have an entrepreneurial mindset
- Travel required less than 20%
