Job Purpose
Develop and maintain strong relationships and open communication with internal teams and external clients to fully understand plan sponsor needs. Support the delivery of consulting services that add value and help establish the consulting team as a trusted resource. Promote the capabilities and expertise of the broader consulting group.


Essential Functions
The following outlines key responsibilities. Regular and reliable attendance is a required function of this position.

Description % of Time Spent
Collect and analyze relevant information to develop recommendations for clients or prospects, including evaluating how proposed plan designs could impact retirement programs and financial outcomes. 25%
Provide technical guidance and consulting on plan design, compliance, and administrative issues for internal teams. Use technology to improve communication and enhance service delivery. 15%
Support business development efforts by participating in proposals and sales presentations, including presenting to large plan sponsors. 10%
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners to stay aligned with client needs and support the delivery of customized, value-driven services. 10%
Stay current on technical topics, industry regulations, and market trends to generate fresh insights and strategic ideas. 10%
Maintain a strong understanding of available products and services to offer well-rounded solutions to clients. Identify and pursue cross-service opportunities where appropriate. 10%
Mentor and train junior consulting staff. Help identify training gaps and provide support and feedback. May include supervisory duties. 5%
Encourage innovation and flexibility in consulting methods. Contribute to the development of ongoing, scalable consulting strategies. Adapt well to ambiguity and change. 5%
Represent the consulting team in the industry through speaking engagements, writing articles, and participating in relevant professional organizations. 5%
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. 5%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 7–10 years of experience in retirement plans, ERISA, or employee benefits
  • Deep understanding of qualified and non-qualified plans and related regulations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly
  • Proven ability to think strategically and offer creative, value-added consulting solutions
  • Experience with client-facing roles requiring strong listening, questioning, and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with client organizational structures and decision-making processes as it relates to retirement planning
  • Ability to stay informed of industry trends and translate them into actionable client insights
  • Relevant industry certifications/designations preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and writing skills
  • Travel required (less than 20%)
  • Must demonstrate integrity and operate in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
