The Senior Technical Accounting Lead position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the financial framework of a growing wholesale banking operation within a dynamic organization. This role is essential for establishing and maintaining robust U.S. GAAP accounting policies, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic growth in the U.S. market. You will serve as a key technical authority, working closely with cross-functional teams and external auditors, to implement impactful accounting standards and drive operational excellence.

Required Skills

  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting within wholesale or commercial banking or Big 4/National Office for financial institutions
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP for financial instruments (ASC 326, 815, 820, 825, 860, 810, 830; including banking-specific guidance under ASC 942)
  • Hands-on experience developing and drafting technical accounting memos and policies with clear citations and judgment
  • Strong understanding of loan accounting, credit loss estimation/CECL, restructurings, and collateralized lending
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across finance, risk, treasury, compliance, and audit teams

Nice to Have Skills

  • CPA (active) and Master’s in Accounting or related field
  • IFRS-to-U.S. GAAP conversion experience in banking
  • Familiarity with U.S. branch operations of foreign banks (OCC/FRB/NYDFS) and FFIEC 002 reporting
  • Experience with CECL modeling, data practices, and collaboration with credit risk/modelling teams
  • Systems expertise in Oracle, SAP, Finastra, Workiva, AxiomSL, or OneSumX

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • CPA certification strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience in technical accounting specifically within wholesale banking or financial institutions, including prior roles at Big 4 or national accounting firms

Other Requirements

  • Based in New York City with a hybrid work schedule (minimum 2 days/week in-office)
  • Willingness to stay current on U.S. GAAP and regulatory developments and to lead methodical adoption strategies
  • Ability to manage internal controls, audits, and regulatory requests efficiently
