Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated AWS Glue Data Engineer to join our client’s growing Trade Technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable ETL pipelines that enable efficient data integration and transformation across complex trading platforms.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact data initiatives that directly support trading operations and advance the organization’s overall data strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue to process and manage trade-related data.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and operations teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Integrate AWS Glue with services such as Amazon S3, Lambda, Redshift, and RDS to optimize data flow and accessibility.
- Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability across all pipelines and transformations.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ETL jobs for scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Document data flows, transformation logic, and architectural decisions.
- Participate in Agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Support production deployments, perform maintenance, and deliver enhancements as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS Glue and related AWS services (S3, Lambda, Redshift, CloudWatch).
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for scripting and data manipulation.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD processes.
- Familiarity with financial data, trading systems, or other complex transactional environments is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional, Agile environment.
Preferred Skills
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty).
- Experience with Apache Kafka, Amazon EKS, or other streaming technologies.
- Knowledge of data modeling and systems-of-record (SOR) design principles.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum and DevOps best practices.
