Position Summary: 
The qualified candidate will demonstrate extensive working knowledge of live broadcast and data center environments. Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of active cabling systems and the corresponding system documentation. This individual will lead and support installations from project initiation through client hand-off. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the installation and termination of copper (coax/network/multi-conductor) and fiber-optic cable products, mechanically inclined, and effective in a team-oriented environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work on projects as assigned by the Senior Supervisor 

  • Support the Senior Supervisor and perform administrative duties when needed 

  • Provide real-time updates on project progress (via group and conference calls) 

  • Create a positive and collaborative work environment 

  • Lead by example and uphold company culture and policies 

  • Guide peers throughout the duration of project builds 

  • Identify and recommend workflow improvements 

  • Maintain an organized and efficient shop environment, including material inventory and tools 

  • Ensure proper use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols 

  • Design rack cable layouts and determine best installation practices for assigned projects 

  • Interpret VidCad drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and cable wire lists 

  • Train and mentor team members on integration standards, practices, and SOPs 

  • Perform rack setup and mechanical tasks related to project builds 

  • Organize and stage all materials required for assigned projects 

  • Maintain inventory management systems 

  • Install broadcast-related equipment 

  • Perform cable cutting, terminating, labeling, dressing, and runs (coax, multi-conductor, network, and fiber optic) 

  • Operate and understand departmental test equipment (e.g., Fluke DSX5000, Paladin 1570, Cable IQ) 

  • Test completed systems for engineering specifications and operational functionality 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements: 

  • Strong listening and organizational skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Effective team player 

  • Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities 

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs, and Drawings 

  • Solid mathematical foundation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry) 

  • Ability to read and interpret installation documentation (drawings and wire lists) 

  • Adaptability and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently 

  • Capable of delegating tasks and leading under pressure 

  • Operational knowledge of hand and power tools, cable strippers, crimpers, etc. 

Qualifications:

  • 3–9+ years of experience in broadcast, data center, or telecommunication installations 

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational education preferred 

  • Industry certifications are a plus (e.g., FOI, FOA – CFOT / CPCT, low voltage, BICSI, SCTE) 

  • Working knowledge of VidCAD is beneficial but not required 

  • CPR/AED certification is a plus 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily indoor work in climate-controlled environments; outdoor work may be required based on client needs 

  • Exposure to varying noise levels in equipment rooms 

  • Work environments include office spaces, high places (ladders, grid systems), tight spaces (under floors), etc. 

  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, climbing, standing, reaching, using hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and near/far vision 

  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs 

  • Potential exposure to hot or cold environments as project demands 

  • Occasional overnight work as dictated by project needs 

  • Typical workweek is 40 hours; overtime may be required based on business needs
