Data Modeler (2)

We are currently looking to hire a Lead Enterprise Data Modeler within the Enterprise Data and Information Services team.  This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining foundational modeling practices and standards which will enable the company to transform the consumption and usage of data across the enterprise. The individual in this role will promote a deep understanding and awareness of data with a focus on conceptual and logical data modeling, serve as a leader and data champion on data projects, and adhere to an enterprise-wide data governance framework to achieve the highest level of consistency, quality, and protection of data.

•             Take ownership and lead efforts for building out the Enterprise Data Model (conceptual and logical) and supporting modeling artifacts.
•             Maintain focus on the most critical concepts/entities, attributes, and relationships, ensuring metadata (including definitions, data types, etc.) is accurate and complete.
•             Apply abstraction and normalization techniques to minimize complexity, promote adoption, and enable maintainability of data models.
•             Collaborate with business, product, and tech partners to confirm data requirements are properly supported by the data models.
•             Facilitate the alignment of data models across multiple domains or subject areas, ensuring consistency in how data is brought together, and avoiding redundant or duplicate information, at the enterprise level.
•             Support iterative updates to the models, and proper versioning, as new data requirements are confirmed.
•             Provide expertise on the development and use of business taxonomies and methodologies for consistent data classification and organization.
•             On occasion, perform reverse engineering of data models from databases and SQL scripts.
•             Be a trusted partner for data governance initiatives and drive cultural shifts that elevate engagement, literacy and competence with enterprise data.
•             Define and evolve enterprise data modeling and design standards, tools, and best practices.
•             Provide minimal admin support for Erwin modeling tools.
•             Mentor and provide leadership to more junior members of the team.

 
Qualifications:
•     12+ years’ experience in applying data management principles and industry standards to design, build, and maintain complex data model assets in Transactional/ Operational, ODS, Data Warehouse and Data Mart applications.
•             Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.
•             Expertise in data modeling principles, including conceptual, logical and physical data models.
•             Experience designing and implementing a practice around Enterprise Data Model and related artifacts.
•             Extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of supporting ontologies, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and knowledge graphs, ideally with client, investor or advisor use cases.
•             Mastery of data analysis and modeling tools, such as Power Designer, ERWin, and ER/Studio.
•             Mastery of RDBMS platforms, including SQL Server and Oracle.
•             Mastery of Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) SQL commands.
•             Experience maintaining metadata for complex data environments and ensuring data integrity.
•             Demonstrated ability to work as part of a high-performing team and influence others within the technology organization.
•             Flexible and able to successfully navigate ambiguity and succeed in a rapidly-changing, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities.
•             Highly organized with strong communication, problem-solving, documentation, and presentation skills.
•             Proven ability to be proactive, possess flexible attitude, learn new skills, and manage ambiguity.
•             Experience in financial services.
•             Familiar with EDM Council, Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO), and other sources for financial industry models.
•             Experience with both waterfall and agile project methodologies.
