Outsource Producer – Character Art
Contract Duration: 12 months with possible extension or conversion to Full-Time Employment
Location: 100% Remote
Target Pay Rate: Approximately $35/hour with flexibility based on experience.
Position Overview
Associate Staffing is seeking experienced Outsource Producers to support a high-volume character-art pipeline within a fast-paced game-development environment.
This position will serve as a primary liaison among internal art and production teams, external development studios, vendors, and other creative stakeholders. The Outsource Producer will assign work, manage schedules and dependencies, track assets through review and approval, balance vendor capacity, identify delivery risks, and ensure content meets established quality and production standards.
This is primarily a vendor-management and production-coordination role rather than a hands-on art position. The ideal candidate has several years of experience producing art content for AAA or large-scale live-service games and can step into a complex production environment with minimal ramp time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day relationships and communication with external art vendors and development partners.
- Coordinate a high-volume pipeline of 2D and 3D character assets across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Assign work, establish priorities, track deliverables, and manage dependencies from initial request through final approval.
- Build and maintain production schedules, asset lists, milestone plans, and status reports.
- Balance work across vendors based on capacity, specialization, deadlines, and changing production priorities.
- Consolidate feedback from internal art, production, technical, and business stakeholders into clear, actionable direction for external partners.
- Track assets through creative review, technical review, revision, approval, and final delivery.
- Identify schedule, quality, capacity, and communication risks early and drive appropriate resolutions.
- Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
- Support content developed under established intellectual-property, brand, and style guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation within production-tracking and collaboration tools.
- Assist with vendor onboarding, workflow development, and continuous process improvement.
- Provide clear visibility into production status, blockers, dependencies, and upcoming delivery risks.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of game-production, art-production, outsource-production, or external-development experience.
- Multiple years of experience working within a AAA, large-scale, or high-performing game-development environment.
- Direct experience supporting character-art production pipelines.
- Experience producing high-volume content for a live-service game or similarly fast-paced digital product.
- Proven experience managing external studios, art vendors, contractors, or distributed development teams.
- Strong understanding of 2D and 3D asset-production workflows, reviews, approvals, dependencies, and handoffs.
- Demonstrated ownership of schedules, milestones, vendor capacity, delivery commitments, and production risks.
- Ability to coordinate several concurrent workstreams without losing visibility into priorities or deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate feedback and requirements among creative, technical, production, and external teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with production-management tools such as Jira, ShotGrid, Hansoft, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience producing character cosmetics, outfits, skins, armor, avatars, or similar player-facing content.
- Experience coordinating assets from initial concept through 3D production and final in-engine implementation.
- Experience working with licensed intellectual property, major entertainment brands, or external approval partners.
- Experience managing multiple vendors across different regions and time zones.
- Familiarity with vendor bids, budgets, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or forecasting.
- Shipped AAA or live-service game credits.
- Experience working within stylized art pipelines.
- Familiarity with Perforce, Confluence, Miro, or similar production and collaboration tools.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in game development, art, design, production, project management, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent professional game-development experience will be strongly considered.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
- Comfortable working independently and making informed production decisions with limited direction.
- Able to work effectively with globally distributed teams.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
