CONTROLS SYSTEMS ENGINEER II
Target Pay Rate: $80,000 – $90,000 annually (depending on experience)
Overview
Join a leading organization in the machine tools division, specializing in software, hardware, and automation solutions for CNC lathe machines. As a Controls Systems Engineer II, you will play a vital role in designing, integrating, and deploying control systems for CNC lathes and peripheral automation equipment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complete automation projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and travel to customer sites to install and troubleshoot systems. Required Skills
- 2-4 years of experience with CNC controls and automation
- Proficiency in ladder logic programming and machine language
- Hands-on experience with PLC systems, including Allen Bradley; knowledge of Mitsubishi PLC systems a plus
- Familiarity with Fanuc interfaces and robot programming is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and client interactions
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with motion controls and automation equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical integration
- Previous experience in machine control system design and installation
- Exposure to robotics and automation software
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and best practices
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related technical field
- 4+ years of relevant industry experience in CNC controls and automation
- Proven track record of managing projects from design through installation and debugging
- Experience working with customer facilities and providing technical support in a fast-paced environment
Other Requirements
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel, including overnight stays
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to acquire a passport
- Work hours typically from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work based on customer needs
- Flexibility to travel once or twice per month, with trips lasting 1-2 weeks
- Ability to work on-site in Charlotte, NC, with some remote work flexibility as needed
