AI Platform Ops Engineer (Databricks on AWS)
Overview
Join a high-impact AI platform team building and operating the enterprise Databricks platform on AWS that powers production analytics, machine learning, and next-generation AI agent workloads. In this hands-on role, you’ll scale platform reliability, strengthen governance with Unity Catalog, automate CI/CD deployments, and enable secure integration patterns for AI agents (including MCP server frameworks). Your work will directly influence AI product velocity, governance compliance, and the broader security posture of a regulated, enterprise environment.
Required Skills (Top 5)
- Production Databricks administration (workspaces, clusters, jobs orchestration, Unity Catalog governance)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) for provisioning and lifecycle automation
- AWS cloud fundamentals for data platforms (IAM, S3, VPC)
- Python and/or Bash scripting for automation and operational tooling
- Data governance & access control (metadata management, classification, auditable permissions)
Nice to Have Skills (Top 5)
- Databricks Asset Bundles and CI/CD deployment patterns for Databricks
- Unity Catalog administration and data classification frameworks (PII/CPNI/PCI)
- AI agent frameworks exposure (MCP, agentic access patterns, LLM serving infrastructure)
- AWS Bedrock or adjacent AI infrastructure experience
- Regulated enterprise experience with formal compliance requirements
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Operations
- 3+ years administering Databricks in a production environment
Other Requirements
- Willingness to participate in at least one in-person interview
- Ability to own platform monitoring, incident response, and reliability improvements
- Comfortable enforcing cluster policies and contributing to cost attribution practices
- Strong communication skills—able to document platform patterns and guide junior engineers
